Bringing Egypt closer to you.

The following snippets of information will give you some ideas on how to have a good time in Egypt. Decide what is the most interesting for you, try independent travel or packaged tours of Egypt. Follow these recommendations and enjoy tourism in Egypt.

Pyramids of Egypt

The ancient Egyptians built more than 90 royal pyramids, from about 2630 BC until about 1530 BC . During that time, the pyramid form evolved from a series of stepped terraces that resembled the layers of a wedding cake to the better-known, sloped pyramidal shape. The first pyramid, the Step Pyramid at Sakkara, was constructed during the reign of King Djoser (2630 bc -2611 bc ). The largest pyramid is the one built for King Khufu , at the sight of modern Giza. Khufu's pyramid, known as the Great Pyramid, is the only one of the ancient Seven Wonders of the World that still survives.

Sphinx

The Sphinx is about 73.5 meters(over 240 feet) in length. It was originally sculptured from a limestone outcrop and, for most of its history, the Sphinx has been at least partly covered in sand. The first recorded clearing took place in the 18th Dynasty when a prince, who later became the pharaoh Thutmose IV , ordered that the sand be removed. This happened after he supposedly had a dream in which he was told that he would become pharaoh if he cleared the Sphinx.

Temples

Temples in Egypt were a reflection of the Egyptians mythology of the "Island of Creation." The pillars were often shaped in the designs of palms, papyrus, and lotus which were plants believed to be on the island. All major creation myths put the origins at the "Island of Creation" and the religion emphasis on the idea of trying to return to that time.

Museums

The Egyptian Museum was first built in Boulak. In 1891, it was moved to Giza Palace of "Ismail Pasha" which housed the antiquities that were later moved to the present building. The Egyptian Museum is situated at Tahrir square in Cairo. It was built during the reign of Khedive Abbass Helmi II in 1897, and opened on November 15, 1902. It has 107 halls. At the ground floor there are the huge statues. The upper floor houses small statues, jewels, Tutankhamon treasures and the mummies.

Khan el-Khalili

Khan el-Khalili is for many the most entertaining part of Cairo. It is an ancient shopping area, but some of the shops have their own little factories or workshops.

Diving Excursions

Diving is a sport that can be done by anyone; however, some precautions should be taken. Many people consider diving as an adventure that might carry some risks. Diving requires a certain degree of physical fitness. Diving is also usually practiced in a group.

Nile Cruises

One of the most enjoyable experiences is to float serenely down the Nile river on an air conditioned luxury ship for a few days. Many of them boast swimming pools, bars, restaurants and almost every facility. You will hardly believe your eyes when you experience the land of the pyramids.
